Are there any children under 18 years in your household? When was the last time you read them a book? or sit and listen to them read a book? What are their reading habits like? What Kind of reading habits do you practice? As parents and educators, it is very important that we ask ourselves these questions.
If you’re one of the countless people who don’t make a habit of reading regularly then, you might be missing out. and if you are missing out, chances are the children in your care are missing out as well.
Reading is very important to our everyday lives and more so to the lives of the children/students who are entrusted in our care on a daily basis. It has a significant number of benefits, both to the young and the old. Reading is the gateway to our imagination. It opens up new worlds every day to those who have formed a habit of doing it.
I have come to realize that there is nothing impossible for someone who reads well and with understanding. Mastering any subject in school begins with a child’s ability to read and understand what he/she read.
Read It Yourself Children Stories is an educational youtube channel that focuses mainly on helping young children to read well with understanding and imagination. It provides a collection of children’s stories that children can relate to based on the story itself. They may in some ways have a similar experience(s) or is familiar in some way with someone who has had this experience. Each story highlights sight words of different or mixed levels which will boost the child’s confidence as he/she masters each reading task and improve on his/her reading fluency.
