The 4 C’s of Education

True mastery of any subject involves a student being able to apply subject content, skills and abilities in different ways to solve a problem.

Mastery = Subject Content + Skills

The 21st Century Skills our Children NEED for Success.

It is vital that all the stakeholders(Parents, teachers, educators, caregivers etc.) work together in order to achieve the desired results.

How can each stakeholder assist students develop the 4Cs?

Communication involves the ability to articulate or explain ideas clearly. This may be done orally or in written form.

Collaboration involves working together in teams to accomplish a common goal.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking involves solving complex issues and problems by analysing and interpreting information to make informed judgement and decisions.

Creativity and innovation  involves the ability to turn ideas into action to meet the needs of the society. It involves:
•Thinking outside the box
•Experimenting with new techniques, materials, strategies or perspectives

Our students’ future will most likely look quite different from our past. If we want them to be successful after graduation it is critical that we help them develop the skills they will need in five, ten, or fifteen years from now.

In the past the “3 R’s” were good enough (even though only one of those skills actually started with an ‘R’ – Reading, ‘Riting, and ‘Rithmetic).

For our students future they need the “4 C’s” to be successful.
