Gr. 5 Week 2 – Classifying Forces and Understanding Work

Here’s a two-day lesson plan for Grade 5 that covers the objectives of classifying forces as push, pull, or turn, understanding when work is done due to forces causing movement, and deducing situations when work is or isn’t done even with forces acting, in accordance with Jamaica’s National Standard Curriculum:

Day 1:

Subject: Science

Topic: Classifying Forces and Understanding Work

Duration: 60 minutes

Specific Objective: Students will be able to:

  • classify forces as push, pull, or turn, and infer that work is done when a force causes movement.

Teaching Resources/Materials: Objects to demonstrate push, pull, and turn forces, Chart paper or whiteboard, Markers, Pictures or videos illustrating push, pull, and turning forces
